Spot on. Great result against Liverpool but anyone thinking the Burnley game will be harder is talking shit. We have now set up the foundation to get ourselves up the league and Burnley is an absolute winnable game. Yes, they will be disciplined and sit and hold and make it hard but they are rubbish away from home. If they beat us we deserve to go down.

We will all feel a lot better about ourselves at the end of this week if we have another 6 points on the board!

Burnley haven't secured a single point away from home this season and only scored 1 goal

Cue them scoring a couple and getting something from the game.

Burnley haven't secured a single point away from home this season and only scored 1 goal. While I don't think anyone thinks it will be easy (even if we played a pub side we wouldn't make it easy) if we can't win this game then we are massively in the shit as far as going down is concerned.

Would take a point all day long. Battled well and defended ok, but completely toothless in attack and still can't retain possession for any lengh of time. We need to sign a striker in Jan and hope it works out and hope Carroll stays fit, or we won't be scoring many goals.

As said below, we have to win on wed to build on this, or it's back to square one again.

We look a totally different team away from home .... busting a gut... at home we look clueless

Burnley work their bollox off and anyone thinking it will be an easier game is in for a surprise especially as the onus is on us to attack and we often get caught on counter. They will sit deep and be very disciplined with 2 banks of 4 at least. Its why Big Andy may be our best option and will probably start.

Get your Allerdici neck braces out the drawer from 2 seasons ago. :-)

I guess the flavour of today will only be known in the next three or four games. If we can use this and really kick on and start playing to our capabilities then it will be a great day.

However if we return to the shitbox of this season then we have achieved nothing. Bilic however din't make a single ricket today and that for me is one of the big plusses.

does anyone else think Ogbonna is a little bit of a pansy? genuine question, noticed it a couple times today, he seems to do that sort of girly / young child flinch & shirk movement with his arms protecting the middle of his body. exactly the same movement i'm trying to teach my 6 year old nephew not to do..

The way we didn't play like we ought to with Carroll around was shocking.

ratings
Randolph - 6 a great save and a clanger., not good enough at this level;
Nordveidt - 4 - easily pulled out of position, slow to recover position, but we have no alternative;
Cresswell - 7 - gave the defence more shape, a tame effort on goal when thru and one bad error
Reid 8 was at times all that stopped lfc;
Ogbonna 7 - better performance than of late, but seems a mistake waiting to happen, did help cresswell out a couple of times;
Ayew 6 worked hard, nearly, shd've scored from payers free kick;
Lanzini 5 did some useful defensive stuff first half but disappeared in 2nd;
Noble 6 unimpressive on the ball
Obiang 8 very good with little support in midfield
Payet 7 nice free kick goal, but some good passes, but needs to play a bit further forward;
Antonio 9 - moth, purely for 1st half. Nice moment for those who think he can't control a football, where he was surrounded by 3 reds and wriggled thru them and played an excellent forward pass;
Carroll 5 - ineffective or we were when he came on;
Fernandes 4 - very ineffective
From 15 mins to 45 mins we were as good as or better than the reds, more corners more shots more possession in forward areas. Shame about the randy clanger, but it happens. Now for a lethargic go at Burnley.

nord, not a great player, has to play until we have a right back. else we end up fucking around with the system. simply dont see how 3 at the back suits us, it negates several player's strengths. just need nord to do a job for the next 4 games.

Give the bloke a chance. He played out of position at RB and with no cover from Ayew often leaving him against 2 attackers. He then moved to CB to make a 3 once Antonio was moved to RB.

Nordveidt is not brilliant but we just took a point at Liverpool with him in the team and one of those goals was an error from the keeper FFS!

I think we can all agree he has no place in defence. He's not shown me enough to get a midfield spot either, so I'd rather not see him start in any capacity.

Exactly Rio

- Nordveit played out of position from his natural CM
- Gets no support, meaning his covering two positions with nobody to pass to
- Puts in a huge shift - a mixed bag, some good blocks and poor passes/positioning
- Plays his part in an away point at Anfield

Ok,he's not Berti Vogts, but showed some character today. Ayew should be the one we are singling out - lazy cunt.

The bloke who shone at dm alongside granit xhaka (Who arsenal snapped up for 30ml, rather than signing nordveit on a free)?
